Vote for Marriage NC
May 8, 2012 is the primary day when NC citizens will have the opportunity to go to the polls to vote for traditional marriage in our state. The lengthy battle to get the NC General Assembly to vote to allow a marriage referendum was won during the last session of the General Assembly. NOW, it is our place and right to go to the polls to vote. Everyone who believes that the biblical, traditional definition of marriage is a marriage between one man and one woman now has the opportunity to have his voice heard.
I trust that you will work hard with your church and school to get the word out about the May 8, 2012 primary when the referendum will be on the ballot. You can encourage everyone to be registered to vote. In our state, the voter registration deadline is 25 days (April 13, 2012) prior to an election. Individuals who miss the registration deadline may register in person and then vote at one-stop voting sites in the person’s county of residence during the one-stop absentee voting period (Early Voting). In order to register during a one-stop period, the applicant must show acceptable proof of name and residence in the county. You can click here to find the address of your county board of elections. Through the auspices of Return America, we have been successful in bringing thousands of NC citizens to the capital in Raleigh for Marriage Amendment rallies. Our voice has been heard. Now many groups are working together to promote the marriage amendment and to encourage voters to go to the polls. Vote for Marriage NC has been formed to coordinate this effort state-wide. Please send this Vote for Marriage NC press release to your church or school email list to give them the opportunity to contribute and get up-to-date information all the way up to May 8.
Thank you in advance for all that you have done and will continue to do to support this very important effort. Will you commit to pray that God will allow us to be victorious on May 8?
–Joe Haas, Ed.D.
